The arrogance of Martha has gone over the top. During an interview with Barbara Walters, Martha Stewart compared her plight with Nelson Mandela.

She threw in a plug for her dog-shit products outside the courthouse after her sentencing. What a weirdo.

Typical bullshit from the anti-humanity lobby. Stewart's quote was:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>
There are many, many good people who have gone to prison. Look at Nelson Mandela.
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Even in the article in which I found the quote, the headline is I'M LIKE MANDELA: MARTHA STEWART (here)

Vacuous, offensive people.

Actually, she is like Mandela in one regard: both are political prisoners, deprived of their freedom by an out-of-control state to be made examples of. Surely Mandela's case was a more dramatic and passion-stirring affair, but on the face of it, they do share that similarity.

Martha Stewart did Ken Lay (et al) a serious favour. I hope he at least has the decency to send her cigarettes in prison ...

Martha Stewart is not a political prisoner.

She broke the law regading insider trading, lied to federal prosecutors and is going to jail.

Every day I speed on the way to work as do many of my fellow Atlanta commuters. About once every 18 months I get busted and pay the fine. I don't say because I'm an otherwise upstanding citizen (never been in trouble with the law and pay all my taxes) I deseve special consideration. I don't say cause everyone else is doing it that it's unfair to single me out. I don't make myself a martyr and compare myself to Nelson Mandela who sacrificed the majority of his years on earth to battle oppression (maybe I'm lacking in self esteem or arrogance, you be the judge).

Like the old Baretta theme song goes, "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time".

Zero sympathy. She was once a stockbroker herself and knew better, no excuses.

Just for you American:

I'd like to make a brief statement.

This is a shameful day. It's shameful for me and for my family, and for my beloved company, and for all of its employees and partners.

What was a small personal matter became over the last 2 years an almost fatal circus event of unprecedented proportions.

I have been choked and almost suffocated to death during that time, all the while more concerned about the well being of others than for myself. More hurt for them and for their losses than for my own. More worried for their futures than for the future of Martha Stewart the person.

More than 200 people have lost their jobs at my company, as a result of this situation. I want them to know how very very sorry I am, for them and their families.

Martha Stewart comments on her sentencing, encourages supporters to continue buying her products, and promises to be back.

I would like to thank everybody who stood by me, who wished me well, waved to me on the street like these lovely people over here, smiled at me, called me, wrote to me. We received thousands of support letters and more than 170,000 e-mails to marthatalks.com. And I appreciate each and every one of those pieces of correspondence. I really feel good about it.

Perhaps all of you out there can continue to show your support by subscribing to our magazine, by buying our products, by encouraging our advertisers to come back in full force to our magazine.

Our magazines are great. They deserve your support. And whatever happened to me personally shouldn't have any effect whatsoever on the great company Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.

And I don't want to use this as a sales pitch for my company, but we love that company, we worked so hard on that company. And we really think it merits great attention from the American public.

And I'll be back. I will be back.

Whatever I have to do in the next few months, I hope the months go by quickly.

I'm used to all kinds of hard work, as you know, and I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid whatsoever. I'm just very very sorry that it's come to this, that a small personal matter has been able to be blown out of all proportion, and with such venom and such gore. I mean it's just terrible.

We are going to appeal, so I'm not going to talk about the case. I want to thank Bob Morvillo and his whole team for doing the very best job they could do in defending me.

This bitch is so arrogant. That can happen when you make more money in one day than most people make in a lifetime. The convicted felon thinks she is a martyr.

Whether she was guilty or not, it's difficult to argue against the fact that her case was a media frenzy, in part because she's highly visible, and in part because everyone loves to hate success stories. Whoever it is that started the anti-corruption movement after Enron knew that the media would play this out to the fullest extent possible, make a circus of it, and show everyone that white collar crime was not to be tolerated in America. Yee haw.

Drama drama drama.

Chuck

So, no "oh, I didn't know that" or "hey, that does look blown out of context" or anything like that acknowledging that you were wrong to start this thread in the first place?

You decry her arrogance in comparing herself to Mandela, her actual words are shown to contradict the media spin, so you come back to piss and whine some more about her arrogance.

Pathetic. What is it like to be so full of hatred for anything good?

I heard the bitch. She compared herself to Mandela. Are you related to her or what? Convicted felons usually draw prison sentences. I have a problem with convicted felons that go on TV and say she is a victim. GOT IT! If she tells the truth nothing would of happened to her. Instead, she spends millions of dollars in legal fees and will now go to prison.
